Rest is Required.
Happy Monday!
I honestly wanted to write this newsletter sooner but I was resting and recharging. I also wasn’t really inspired to write a ton lately (one of my clear indicators it’s time to allow a pause, rest, and just ‘be’) but this idea of rest kept coming back to me. What I want to say exactly, I’m not sure. Some people don’t have any issue with the idea of rest or relaxation. They welcome it with open arms. For others it makes them uneasy. One reason many people are uncomfortable with stopping is because it’s not ‘productive’ and most people are programmed for productivity — believing their worth comes from what they do, how hard they work, what they accomplish, and how much they have going on — which means rest is ‘pointless’. The messaging was always clear — you have to work hard if you want to succeed, you have to hustle, no pain no gain, no days off — and while there can be some slight nuance to those messages, there should always be room for rest in-between, because alignment with your own energy is the true key to ‘success’ and reaching goals.
First let me remind you that your worth does not come from outside of you. It’s not something that should waver or be taken from you. It’s inherent. So your job, your achievements, and your schedule do not define your worth. If you still believe that, you have to reprogram yourself, redefine your worth and rebuild it — and you can start by allowing yourself to pause, taking little baby steps over time — not once you’ve reached your limit and you’re completely burnt out or sick, but when you can sense the slight discord in your energy — you feel agitated by things, you feel overstimulated, you lack interest in something you actually love, your body is moving slower, you’re trying to force outcomes, and so on. When you practice the pause over time and notice the difference in your experiences, you’ll begin to understand the true power of rest. That’s when you’ll start embodying it more — at least that’s what happened to me.
Secondly, allow me to also share why rest actually is productive (if you need a reason). When you slow down long enough to sleep in, take a nap, get a massage, or lounge on the couch, you’re replenishing your energy. Think of yourself like your phone, you have to recharge it every single day or it stops working. The same thing happens to you. When you’re tired, burnt out, running on low, you might be showing up to the same activities but you’re ‘producing’ half the results or none at all. When you allow yourself to reset (in whatever form feels uplifting to you…not doomscrolling instagram or mindlessly watching tv) you go back to whatever you do reinvigorated. You’ll bring back a fresh energy and a better mindset that attracts better ideas, better flow, aligned opportunities, more love in your relationships and interactions — better everything.
And speaking of better ideas, whenever I allow myself to pause, I not only allow inspiration to flow through, I am able to act on it. Same goes for intuitive hits and messages. Same for the act of intentionally manifesting. All because I’ve slowed down enough to tune into myself. When I slow down and take my time, I’m more tuned to how I’m feeling, more tuned to my environment, and my needs. I’ll even have more clarity on what I want to create next — all because I’ve rested enough to bring myself back into alignment with my own energy. When my energy is in the right place, it’s sending out the right signals — then boom, my manifestation is right there. Which is why I say don’t think doomscrolling on the couch or mindlessly watching TV is rest. That’s just you absorbing other peoples ideas and energy. Quieter activities like the sauna, a massage, and naps are more the vibe — something where you can disconnect from the world and reconnect to yourself.
I almost shared a post on all the reasons massages are necessary, the above being many of them, but I’ll save that draft for another time. My point is, rest is your real leverage in life, the thing that moves you forward with more ease, and you are worthy of it! In fact, you are designed for it. It’s honestly a life requirement not a reward. You’re human; not a machine — and yet even machines need to recharge their batteries, so you should be able to too :)
How to *actually* feel more confident
How you feel about yourself (on both a conscious + subconscious level) creates your entire reality. This can manifest in so many different ways - the relationships you accept, the job opportunities you align with, the environment you live in, even the state of your health. If you are filled with a lot of negative self-talk, feel insecure, or are full of self-doubt, I want to share the action-oriented things that helped me build my confidence and shift my frequency because if you want to attract better circumstances, people, and experiences into your life you need to build yours too. True confidence comes from a high sense of self-worth and only when you embody that worth will the world mirror back better experiences to you.
CREATIVE REST
With the speed at which things move these days, we are expected to always be on, even if it's just an expectation we have of ourselves. Technology and entertainment are available to us 24/7. But nature has its own rhythm, and we are a part of that. Nature moves at a slower speed. It's cyclical. It allows for both rest and play. Winter and Spring. An ebb and flow.
