Practicing the Pause
a little life and energy update
I haven’t written in a while, and I honestly haven’t been sure where I want to start. July has been full of healing, integration, and some really cool manifestations — but we’ve also been in Mercury Retrograde,1 which brought my desire to write about any of it to a sudden halt. Thankfully, I’ve experienced this kind of lull before, so it’s really just about allowing the pause more than anything.
Instead, my body asked for a lot of rest the last couple of weeks. Maybe you’ve felt the same fatigue, and hopefully, you’ve allowed yourself to rest too. Personally, I can find the need to rest for an extended period of time frustrating. I need to know why I’m so tired, and honestly, the first day I felt it, I found it extremely uncomfortable. I felt so much guilt for being tired and taking a nap in the middle of a Monday.
So obviously I texted my mentor to ask her wtf was going on with me and could we maybe just release the guilt I feel?2 It was worth a shot…instead, she replied saying there was nothing else to release at that point in time (we’ve only had multiple emotional releases this month), but a lot of light has been coming onto the planet, which can cause a lot of fatigue as it purges density from your system.
If you’ve noticed yourself or others getting extra emotional lately or experiencing some sort of upheaval — this is also why.
She also reminded me to be grateful for the time and space I had to process the work I’ve been doing, so I quickly shifted my thoughts from guilt to gratitude because I knew she was right (and on a normal day I can get there).
As the week went on, so did the fatigue, but I actually started to enjoy my new reading, meditation, and nap routine. The quiet afternoons became something I looked forward to.
I was also reminded that the nervous system needs a lot of rest when it’s adjusting to a new state — so if you’re doing a lot of energy work to shift your beliefs and release old emotions, you might feel the exhaustion even more as you let go of outdated programming and upgrade your state of being.
So that’s really all I have to share with you this week. When I started writing, I thought there might be more, but sometimes all we need is that permission to pause and those little one-sentence reminders that not only tell us it’s ok to rest, but also give a little context to what we’re feeling. There’s nothing inherently wrong — it’s just a part of the process.
Hopefully, I’ll be back to writing more soon with fresh energy and a refined sense of purpose for Substack. 🩶
Mercury Retrograde ends on July 23rd. It usually has a two-week ‘post shadow’ phase, but life should start moving forward more smoothly then. Generally, it’s not a time to start or buy anything new. Instead, it’s a time to reflect, reevaluate, and realign yourself, and maybe repair anything that needs to be fixed.
For context, I work with an emotional release practitioner who helps release unprocessed emotions from childhood, adulthood, and beyond that continue to manifest in your life today. Understanding where they come from and releasing them frees up your energy and in turn transforms how life unfolds for you.
